george trotter Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 Grev, your number 5 is Masachika. I looked up my old copy of Hara "Die Meister der Japanisher Schwertzierathen" Hamburg 1902 pp.63 and 199. Page 63 lists these kanji as Masachika and says "see Yasuchika VI" P.199 is Yasuchika VI, son of Yasuchika V. Mid 19th century. First son of Yasuchika V. Tsuchiya (of? Nara). Name Masataro...used other names Masachika, Rioshudo, Hankeisha, Gario, Juntokusai, Ichimu, Tosen, Sampo, Koun, Kioo, Hakugen, Sekiyenshi. He gives an example as being copper with ? (can't read the German properly...I think overlay and engraving) . It is signed (like this one) Masachika and the date is given as Kaiei 2 = 1849 in the collection? of Essen, Hamburg. sorry I can't do kanji but this should appear in Haynes under Yasuchika VI. Hope this helps. PS I really like it...wish it was mine (and I don't even collect tsuba). Regards, Quote
