phil reid Posted July 15, 2013 Report Posted July 15, 2013 Does anyone know the left hand company logo on the NCO Fuchi ? The shape which appears to be internally circular but externally is hexagonal with small beads on the points. Guess is that it is a trade or company stamp. The nearest kanji Found is SUI (water) but it can also be read as TAIRA and MOTORI which are both names but cant find the company anywhere. Bit of a Mystery Cheers Phil Quote
george trotter Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 Hi Phil, I have not seen it before. It has the standard "to" (Tokyo) inspection mark and (I think) Kokura Arsenal mark of the pile of cannon balls, so it is government inspected and assembled. The "Sui" (Mizu?) stamp in a circle must be one of the arsenal contractors. I looked in my WW2 period book "Dai Nihon Token Shoko Mwikan" and can see no trace of this mark with any of the sword shops. ....hopefully a member will know...maybe Morita san can help? That is the company logo of Mizuno 水野; alas, nothing more is known about it from the archives. The closest company that I could find that would match would be Mizuno Tanji Shōten 水野丹冶商店. However, it could be some other company altogether. Has anyone come across this Stamp before?? Quote

Kiipu Posted April 17, 2023 Report Posted April 17, 2023 For swords, I am not aware of a master list of suppliers. The Mizuno advertisement was found in a civilian book and not the archives. Quote
