Hidden letter

This morning I bought an ojime at an antiques fair, and there was a kisseru case attached to the string. Inside the case was a folded piece of paper, and I was wondering what the rather handsome-looking writing actually says. There is a faint rectangular seal bottom left. :|

 

PS If a Japanese member could kindly transcribe this into modern Japanese, I can translate into English if that helps. Thank you.

Hi,

This paper is a temporary contract for rice cleaning(polishing).

Maybe mid Meiji period.

 

Red stamp says "The stamp of Suzuki rice(‐cleaning) mill".鈴木精米所 印

Well, to me that is near miraculous. All I know is that it is beautifully written. I couldn't read even one word of it, though. Thank you so much, Morita San.

 

(I showed it to my Japanese wife and she just shrugged. "If you cannot read it, then neither can I", she said! )
