Hi Does anyone know if the Gendai smith Akimoto Akitomo ever signed his work with the mei Musashi Jyu Akitomo Saku? Thanks in advance Regards Daniel
  4. Yes on antiques but there´s a few bastards on this board collecting Gendaito(including me)
  5. I´m sure someone in the US are willing to help but wouldn´t there be a risk of paying double VAT and custom fees? Both when entering the US and then again when arriving in the final destination. Regards Daniel
  6. Hi Is there any positive news regarding this mess? Has anyone recieved a sword shipped from Japan by Fedex lately? Regards Daniel
  7. No need for a polish this is a Showato for sure. Not crap but not nihonto. Regards Daniel
  8. Your assumption is correct, since it has a showa stamp. Showa stamp=non-traditionally made. Kind Regards Daniel
  9. Russ One of the best ways of ruin a blade is touching it with your bare hands. Regards Daniel
  10. Donation sent. To the warm safe haven in SA from cold north. Regards Daniel
  11. I agree with Thomas. Kind regards Daniel
  12. Sorry to hear about your problem. I also had a problem recently with a sword returning from Japan after polish to Sweden. The sender tried to send it by EMS but the parcel were rejected because it was illegal to send "weapons" to Sweden. If it was an AK-47 I was trying to import without the proper paper work, damn right it would've been illegal. However regarding edged weapons knives, nihonto or even "china-tanas" there are no restrictions from the swedish side. Instead of EMS the parcel were sent by Fedex and were delivered with no problems whatsoever. What worries me is I've heard lately even Fedex refuses to carry swords? I think these issues is more of a carrier issue than problems with National laws even if I'm sure there are a few countries were these kind of items are prohibited. To be honest I can't imagine what the carrier would be afraid of? Ever heard of a terrorist ninja grabbing a nihonto from the cargo room in an aeroplane jumping out screaming kiai and hijacking the plane or any postal services anywhere in the world having a major problem with employees getting hurt by well packed nihonto in transit? Ridiculous!!! But of course it's an easy way of "sharpen" up security without having to do anything. Regards Daniel
  13. Before any of the more experienced members will chime in. Each sword has to be judged on it's on merits How about some photos? Regards Daniel
  14. Hi all I just re-read this thread. Anyone know where this sword is? Did a member get it? Kind Regards Daniel
  15. Hi all, At last my four year old son is sleeping upstairs and I finally had the time to really study the blade and the polish. I feel my lousy pics made Kunitaro san's great service an even greater disservice. I want to point out even though the Hada is a very tight Ko Itame it is brought out and easily seen in reality and the Kesho follows the original Hamon in a nice and natural way. I wouldn't hesitate using his sevice's again. Also this has been another step for me in the learning curve. It is very satisfactory to have restored a blade to it's glory, all financial aspects aside But isn't that what art appreciation is all about? Have a great weekend folks Best Regards Daniel
  16. Jussi, not to hijack this thread but is there a Scandinavian branch of NBTHK? By the way welcome to the board Hans. Best Regards Daniel
  17. Thank you all for taking the time to comment. Yes Jean I would say Ko Itame and Choji Hamon with deep Ashi. Regards Daniel
  18. Hi I didn't select the level of polish, so it would be the standard level I think. Regards Daniel
