Shodai Nobutaka Value
Fred Geyer replied to Eddie Tree's topic in Auctions and Online Sales or Sellers
Eddie, Been looking for 20 years seen 3 Ubu signed Shodai all were $14,000 plus all outstanding blades "be careful many 2nd gen papered as 1st " I have never seen a Ubu Mumei Shodai Nobutaka , all of them Masatsune, Ujifusa and Nobutaka signed the works they did. Which have Never seen a Masatsune katana and only 2 Ujifusa all are very rare and should be considered a real find to see one and own one Fred Geyer -

A great man..... hired him many times to translate tsuba books for me then he would not take my money and just had to buy him dinner or a night of drinks at a sword show He went to a Jesuit school by us he would tell me about a lot. Cheers Harry Fred Geyer

Attention Namban Collectors ....
Fred Geyer replied to nagamaki - Franco's topic in Auctions and Online Sales or Sellers
OK Brian, yes I can respond ..I just like to read the form. This set is the only set I have ever seen and truly early Namban and both having a one piece construction and to be together for generation after generation shows the importance of this set. Yes I agree they are not late Edo Kyoto bling but a set of very early K/K. I ask this one question show me a set of this age that are not Daimyo owned and kept in a important family collection that are not 30K plus as this set is the time of Goto Tokujo ...what would that set cost??? I would not just say look at the Namban set but WOW look at the set of Momoyama K/K set !! Will ask again ...show me another set for sale???? So blow the photos up and put it in your memory bank, and think of the time these were made!!!! Fred -

1St Model Nco Type 95 ? Copper Hilt
Fred Geyer replied to Julian's topic in Military Swords of Japan
It is still a very rare sword that is matching , when was the last time you saw one for sale and the old paint is easly taken off to the original finish, I say a good buy!! my be the last one you see sold for many... many, years!! -
Or Hillary will stand up and lie to everyone and say NOTHING ever has got papered and yet she will THEN say rich people have Higo tsuba and then promise to take all your nice tsuba and give them to everyone else because it is not fair that you have worked and studied and got a really good tsuba..... when a new person has crap tsuba!! AND no one should be with out free tsuba that you never worked for. Fred

Day Two Of Chicago Sword Show
Fred Geyer replied to b.hennick's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
Agree with Ron about the Field Museum's Gunsaulus Collection did matter if it was a good signature just had to be pretty in hand, bold design as I am sure they were all $2.00 each or less in that time of history. Also changed my photo to one of the tsuba we saw, was great carving! Fred Geyer -
All, As always Mark did a great job !!! Show 100% sold out and was packed on Saturday even Sunday at noon was busy, I never even had time to even eat lunch on Saturday, and missed Mike's NBTHK lecture which I heard was great ...they always are !! Then each night after the show Mark has his evening party for the Dealers, so Great job Mark!! Also picked up a great tsuba and Koshirea to bring home ,thanks to Fred Weissberg So I had a great Show !!! Fred Geyer
