By the way, I don't see where the polisher removed the mitsu meï on the nakago... did he gave any "guess" on an attribution ? Hi, my father never gave me such a gift! It would be a fantastic Tale if it could be Ichimonji Norimune... I can't tell from the meï, but the place seems wrong on the nakago (I can be myself wrong) it is under the mekugi ana and not enough on the mune side... Hope it is another good Norimune. Random searching on Yasuhiro, I found this one.... from Edo. Mei is different (and style too) but Yasuhiro's takane looks familiar to me. Could this Smith have mooved to kyoto? (It is not a very belivable story I know, he is from 1500's)... After thinking at it, meï is realy différent, sorry wasting your time.

...23 inches is à little short for such à sugata. Without better picture I would not take the risk... Dont feel Satsuma to me (short and good quality ito not wrapped classical Satsuma alf knot) , I may be wrong. Best regards, Éric VD

Hello Jussi, Thank you very much for your researches and your time ! I've got bad luck on this one too. (In my opinion) most of Kyoto schools, on early Shinto, should have been Yamashiro-den ... maybe some rare yamato-den? The only "Yasuhiro" in kanbun shinto working around was Tachibana ( the mei is not matching in any way) and Tachibana(kuse)'s and Fujiwara's were'nt really friends... So I wonder ... Kinnoto was an option (mostly because of the "Satsuma"/ Ezo context) but it does'nt look a shinshinto work to me (not thick and kind of "show off" enough IMO)... I can only say that it was brought back in France before 1900 and never been polished since (there was a very thick layer of grease and dirt on it, preventing for heavy rust). Sugata is somehow interesting... Do you know the nagasa? Tsuka ito have been awfully rewrapped, but the ito is probably genuine. Fuchi/kashira are not good (specialy kashira) Why are you considering to buy this sword? A gamble on finding diamonds in a rough? Best regards Éric VD

Difficult to say... 5mm is not so much, there is almost no polishing bolt (renflement in french). Hada seems masame with loose grain... Could be kazu-ichimono ( not a good news) or tired genuine (yamato-den?). Middle or end muromachi is very possible to me. Absolutely not sure at this point. Best regards, Éric VD

I put here some more pic's to appreciate the sugata and part of the Hamon. This swordsmith seems unknown from swordsmith index I found... probably not a diamond in the rough but still the sword have no noticeable flaw (tip point is 1mm broken, rusty and it needs of professional Togishi care). Hello, this is my first attempt to create a new Topic and asking some help. This is a sword a friend brings to me this WE. It is in his family for more than 100 years, the tsuka was blocked, seems never opened from that time. It cames in Satsuma rebelion style tsuka maki with quite good shakudo tosogu. The ito cracked 6 mounth ago. The blade is: Nagasa : over 70cm Sori : very little sori Chu Kissaki, boshi komaru and I guess no Kaeri Very little funbari, Tori koshi, Hamon looks mostly Suguha ko-midare Kiri yasurime becoming sujikai at the second mekugi ana Nakago long and probably suriage and machi Okuri ... For the mei I need help. I Guess: "Senshu?"(the two first Kanji are very difficult to read for me) Fujiwara Yasu "Hiro" (probably, could be yasuteru) ... From the general impression I was thinking of early Shinto (maybe kanbun) but the nakago could be very late Muromachi, the very little sori could also point to satsuma work... I found no matching smith with theses kanji, it's not a big name so maybe not a gimeï. I can take more pic's if needed (kissaki, full blade...) Any contribution will be greatly appreciated (thank you very much by anticipation) : I have absolutely no commercial interest in it. Best Regards, Eric VD

Hello, Looks nice and healthy. The Mihara caracteristics seems ok: long waterfall kaeri (maybe à litlle short here), darck round tetsu areas in the hada, mostly suguha shape hamon... I agree with the previous post: I would have guess middle to end muromachie, the light is tricky. Considering the maki-Okuri, the sori is strong enough wich should exclude momoyama tensho. Hello there, I'm a french "transfuge" of late French Nihonto Token. I pass some decades on a desert Island with no Oshigata or yasurime to share, I'm trying to break free. I think I will find here some very good people I met IRL in France, and some very good new people I hope to meet someday. I'm still a beginer in swords (after 20 years collecting many middle range swords), but thats OK : when I'm sure of something, I'm probably mystaking so beeing a fool is a good point.
