https://ebay.us/m/SZQOJC Posting after auction is finished due to some requests. DESCRIPTION: The blade is signed "Yasushige 靖繁", dated "Showa Juroku-nen Ichi-gatsu kichi-jitsu (lucky day Jan., 1941) 昭和十六年一月吉日”, shinogi-zukuri shape, before WWll time made blade. Yasushige`s real name is Abe Shigeo, born in 1911. He made swords as a Yasukunito sword smith at the Nihonto Tanrenkai located on the ground of the Yasukuni shrine. The blade is in old polish, shows fine scratches but no rust, no stain and in decent condition. There is no nick, no bend, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The temper line is wavy chusuguba temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep temper at the point. The scabbard is heavy metal, no dent, no crack, no bend and in good condition. The handle is tightly fit, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cuts, no loose also in good condition. Lock mechanism works fine. Tsuba, seppa and lock pin are matched number 1 stamped. It measures 26+3/4" tip to the guard, 25+5/8" cutting edge, 1+1/8" width, 6.5 mm thickness at the notch and 39" in mountings.

Increasing Gold Membership numbers?
Rawa replied to Brian's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
Seriously doing anything towards monetizing fresh members is bad idea. -
Sugata https://markussesko.com/2015/04/20/kantei-1-sugata-8/ https://weblog.tozando.com/sori-the-curve-that-captures-the-sharpness-and-beauty-of-the-Japanese-sword/ Blade have even after being suriage koshi-zori shape? Or it's just early pre edo saki-zori? Nakago dsnt indicates being more pointy. [We see entire bo-hi] Dr @Rivkin could this be katata-uchi/uchigatana repurposed as wakizashi? @Caracal please post measurements of nagasa/nakago Nakago imo have only some minor differences in oxidation after getting another mekugi-ana. Late muromachi period?

Importing Nihonto through US Customs and Tariff info
Rawa replied to MEENag's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
But men you bought it way before. You simply send it for restoration. It is your posesion [ownership] all this time. Tarif/custom how it exactly is define in states? Its quasi tax for moving product through border every time and it dsn't matter that its exact same item? [AND MORE IMPORTANT SAME OWNER] or it is one time fee for "protection domestic market and producers". Holly s**t Trump is bragging about tariffs being success. Easy votes from rednecks/bottom dwellers. There must be exemption for this case even in states law. Exempii gratia museums getting art from other countries for exhibition don't pay tariffs. @RobBBQI hope that you would dig through it and would post info. Case law is loco -

I would like to add 2 more NCO typology as this thread is becoming leading one. I know that first is covered by another but description give more value.

One advice with ebay - look for pics setup. If seller have same type of items e.g. tsuba and using many different setups It's reseller. Asking for more pictures and getting those also isn't a way to check as yahoo sellers posting mostly well detailed items. Currently there are issues with sending blades to USA. https://www.aoijapan.com/temporary-suspension-of-ems-shipments-to-the-united-states/ Check before You buy or you can end up in customs hell.

Impossible. NCO wasnt for IJA regular army. Someone just made addon. Also Its Kokura Pattern 2 [A?]NCO 95 @Scogg I would like to hear your estimates this sword was made - max1942?

Another wakizashi for evaluation
Rawa replied to Nazar's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
I could have sworn that I saw exact same setup used by seller from hungary on ebay. He offered mostly beaten up pieces. Maybe reseller? You should be strict about offers and it isn't really worthy to put money into headache. Im sure saya have more to tell. -
Interesting wakizashi https://www.shigure-militaria.com/blank/edo-era-mumei-imperial-Japanese-army-field-officer-s-gunto
-
As I heard shorter mei is indication that blade was made by Emura in person but this one have long nice mei and is 27,5 inch long. https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/213724079_wwii-Japanese-shin-gunto-made-by-chounsai-emura-tallahassee-fl?utm_source=LA_Mobile_Share&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=LAiOSshare I would like to hear your opinion on mei and blade too. Maybe someone more knowledgable want to share with me?

Another wakizashi for evaluation
Rawa replied to Nazar's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
Please check kojiri. One big crack [all around]. It almost fall off. Bad seppa pushing kozuka. Looking like seppa are misplaced. Kogatana is a modern replacement? Samegawa is in parts. I wonder how bad is saya junction. Overall I would expect more nicks and dents as this piece is so much beaten. Gilding looks strange. Green background reminds me of one particular yahoo seller. -

Example with stamp. https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/Japanese-militaria/Japanese-sword-676573/ Ask @Bruce Pennington he even commented about linked one. Imo yours would be showa stamped too. Ask for entire nakago photo. Another example with stamp https://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/30543-new-purchase/ Another with stamp https://entry.winners-auction.jp/productDetail/7041 3 stamped examples If yours don't have one You should start to wander if it wasn't removed. Still Bruce's data should shed light on the matter. -
Where to find an expert authenticator pre-sale? (west coast US)
Rawa replied to SonoSam's topic in Military Swords of Japan
@Bruce Penningtonwrote some time ago that he have 3/4 blades with yoshisuke mei stamped. I would estkmate value of this at 1,5-2k$ due to nice, complete kai gunto mount with sarute and tassel. Just this tsukamaki... -
