Hi All, Here is my only leather covered metal Gunto saya, Nothing out of the ordinary apart from the black leather on an Army gunto. It houses a WW2 blade with a Warrior stamp on the nakago (already posted in the Stamps thread) It did come with a brown leather tsuka cover but I doubt it's a matching pair due to the colour difference.

Hi All, Attended a local military show this weekend and spotted this little beauty. I thought it was a clever way to display a fuchi & Kashira. It would seem a lot of time and effort has gone into this, made out of a hardwood. What do you think? All the best

Hi All, It's been a while since I posted this katana (2007). It was in poor shape and to cut a long story short, I moved it on after being offered considerable more then I paid for it. Anyways, this year I noticed a similar sword for sale and guess what, It was the Sadakiyo I once owned. It is in a very much better state than it was when I owned it. Pictures So as an early Christmas present this year, I am now the custodian of the Sadakiyo again, It is a wonderful sword. I don't know of the swords history between 2007 & 2025 apart from the collector I purchased it from, It is housed in a non Japanese shirasaya which I want to replace but being in the UK makes it difficult getting the sword to Japan. All the best

Also worried Gwyn, I'm at the Birmingham arms fair tomorrow, I will discreetly enquire about his welfare with the many dealers that know Bill. Purchased my first sword from Bill over 25 years ago. Regards -
Morning Both, Thanks for your comments. I know, it is strange, I have been over the tsuka and nothing seems to be out of place. There is no signs of a repair, recent rebind, bodge up or anything else untoward. The spotted hole would of matched up perfectly as well ?? Regards

Hi Everyone, Hope you are all well. I have a showa period Katana signed Kanehisa and dated Showa 18 (1943). The sword has no stamps of any description on it. I would like to find out if possible which wartime Kanehisa it could be out of the several listed during that period. Another question would be the date as it only has the mei of: Showa ju hachi nen - Is this usual with no month or made by characters? Mekugi ana is in a very strange position as well and the evidence that an ana was started in the more normal position. Another thing I have noticed is that on the date picture, The characters seem to have been chiselled after the lacquer painted numbers have been applied when you zoom in on the picture, Was thing normal? Anyways, any help greatly appreciated. It would be great if I could find other two character signatures to compare with mine. All the best

The first picture and your example both have a wooden saya. I've owned something almost the same without the numbers on that fits the top end of a wooden saya. Regards
-
Hi All, Is the number for the Ashi attachment or the whole saya? Regards
