  1. I just saw your question No there isn’t any thing written on the back of the photo when I bought the diary it was tucked in the pocket so it may or may not be connected It dose fit nicely in the pocket
  2. Steve M I forgot to mention is the name ISHIDA Katsutoshi the soldier who owned the diary ?
  3. I’m thinking someone or the seller saw this flag on this site And figured since the kanji was already translated thanks to you all it was quickly bought or removed! Earlier I posted a sword a while back and the kanji was also translated same as the flag and it was bought or removed ! I should have learned my lesson ! Next time I will have it in my hands before I ask for help Too bad Now the family won’t ever see the flag of the killed soldier if it was to find its way there At least I have the the diary Dose any kanji represent the name of the soldier who owned it? Thanks Steve
  4. The dam flag disappeared It dosnt show sold or listed?? Some one bought it or removed it Im actually pissed off ! Sorry I didn’t expect it steve
  5. That’s ok whoever gets the flag I’m. Sure there are people who can translate I also have a diary Maybe you can help figure out what the kanji is I find it interesting that a photo of a Japanese female was tucked in the pocket I’m guessing it’s a girl friend or wife of the soldier Great information guy’s I will probably send out my diary along with the flag of I get it Now I have new information And might get lucky The photo of the girl is a bonus Steive

  7. Do you believe ARAI Yukio).is the soldier who took the flag into battle ? Just wanted to be sure if I decide to send it to this organization provided I win the bid great information guys on the flag sword and tag Thanks to all for your information FYI If any one has any Japanese items that would like have it returned to the relatives and like flags helmets dog tags or anything that has the soldiers name NO photos I will forward where to send it to Steve
  8. Thanks for your help ! The flag is very interesting information Im a little perplexed why not many kanji such as friends an family members were signed What bother’s me that many of these flags were taken home by the GIs as souvenirs and are seen being sold on sites like EBay Long story short I saw a clip on the internet where a good luck flag found it’s a at back to the grand parents and were so appreciative to have it returned and saying he came home A tear jerking moment. Because so many Japanese soldiers were killed the families never found closer All their swords that were confiscated after there surrender or picked up on the battle ground They were taken home by the GIs They were kept or sold Alot of these swords were tagged with a surrender cloth or tag in hopes it would be returned and very few if any were Some pitched in the sea Or went down on their ships or planes never to be seen again Im thinking of buying this flag and send it to the organization where they try and find the surviving families Probably not my swords lol
  9. Any assistance for the kanji translation on the flag is appreciated I also have a sword and dog tag it’s not clear on the tang Steve
  10. I wanted to add to this thread The sword probably has its original mounts and in good condition considering how old it is The blade it exhibits a beautiful unique hada in full polish The only thing I added is the leather strap which keeps the sword from coming out the saya I reduced the price to 3700 + 75.00 shipping As I pointed out the polish alone would cost 2700 that leaves me 1000 for the sword itself I know I won’t get what I want but I believe it’s a good price ! I appreciate everyone’s feedback Steve
  11. I’m looking to see what the kanji translation to English is for this sword thanks Steve
  12. Firstly I appreciate everyone’s feedback Im in agreement with the cover disintegrated or removed why who knows That leaves the saya with added mounts and zip ties Or is this saya for a different sword? But then it wouldn’t fit so maybe original The hada is remarkable I don’t like hodge pod parts added on I asked for pictures but never got any so I don’t think we should waste any more time on this sword unless someone is interested in pursuing it further It’s not my sword and I can’t get any additional pictures from the seller Steve
  13. Very interesting comments zip ties paper under hanger I missed that Im a little confused regarding the comment of ashi, semegane and ishizuki have been 'stuck on'.? I agree with wood saya and no cover that would explain the added hanger via paper or ties and holed Tsuba for a strap Good detective work guys Aside all that the hamon looks intriguing for a older sword If I get additional pictures I will post them I was offered 1300 but now I’m not sure if it’s worth it with these issues
  14. I forgot to mention about the hada on my sword post here The hada almost looks like flames Is that unusual for a older sword? And dose anyone have an ideal what period it was made
  15. Hi Bruce I’m not sure what your getting at about this brown tassel and what my sword posted has to do with any of this ? steve
  16. one of my concerns is there’s no locking device only a Tsuba for a strap I’m trying to get some more pictures Stece
  17. Hi Bruce not sure what you mean? I looked along near the cutting edge Steve
  18. I saw this sword and thought interesting provided price Only draw back is there’s no signature and a short tang probably cut down to fit in army mounts The hada looks interesting Any comments welcome
  19. Good information I will probably keep it unless I can At least get 3700 And would only leave me 1000 for my sword considering how much polish costs However it’s still a beautiful sword regardless of it’s mounts I tried to email Tschernega but didn’t go through? If anyone has the full email name I will try and contact him Thanks for your help Ed and others s
  20. On 2nd thought it didn’t go through when I sent it
