Have seen this 98, but noticed an odd mark on the blade. Have only seen the photo, so can't tell if it's just a stain, dirt or indeed could it be a defect or repair?
Anyone seen anything similar, or have any ideas?
It's a well known trick of the eye.....except I can't recall the name!
I remember having to pieces of curved cards when I was a kid which demonstrated the effect.
As I put on the other thread, think it's a trick of the light re the extra fuller?
I watched a similar decent copper NCO go for over a thousand pounds a few weeks back. Expect this to be no different.
Look forward to seeing some better photos.
I keep an eye on the auctions. Copper handles fetch huge money. One went recently for a thousand odd pounds.
Saw this one, wasn't sure if the extra fuller was a trick of the light?
Having had a look through Dawson's, most areas seem ok (to my inexperienced eye).
I'm not sure about the kissaki though, seems very stubby? Almost ikubi-kissaki, which I've no idea if this would be correct on a type 95 NCO?
Rather than drift the other recent thread any further, I've started this one re the copper NCO I've seen. I've been sent some more pics.
What say you guys?
Cheers guys. I certainly wouldn't depend on that photo alone, and have read up on the type in Dawson's. I thought, initially, that the pictured sword looked 'about right'. So was interested as to what aspects might give cause for concern. I await a response to my request for better pics and more info.
I don't want to appear to be drifting this thread, so if any mods want me to delete or move this please say so.However, re dodgy copper handle NCOs, any thoughts re this one? Only photo I have unfortunately.
Not suggesting this cracking example is questionable at all.....
.....but just out of interest, is the copper handle variant of the NCO targeted by the Chinese fakers much?
