  1. There is also a series of videos by Markus Sesko. https://m.youtube.com/@newyorktokenkai608/videos
  2. You're right. My bad eyes. I had already edited my post.
  3. The date: Showa 16 (1941). Size medium but not sure about that. Maybe others can fill in the missing parts
  4. Nice video. There's also an video about kabuto.
  5. Thank you Mel for the additional information.
  6. @Bruce Pennington The picture of the other side of the nakago is even worse. It is dated but impossible to read. I'm visiting the seller next week. Keep you posted if I know the actual date.
  7. Chandler, thank you very much for your help!
  8. Bad picture but for now it's the only picture the seller is providing. Hopefully the quality is good enough to read the mei. Thanks in advance. Regards, Ed
  9. Hi Kenny, I agree with John. Type 98 mountings and not a traditional made blade.
  10. Moriyama-san, Thank you for your help. I couldn't figured it out by myself. Your help is highly appreciated! Regards, Ed
  11. John, Thank you very much for your help! It is highly appreciated. Regards, Ed
  12. I have only one picture to work with and the quality is unfortunately bad. To my untrained eyes a part of the mei reads kuni ju sadatsugu. Hope you guys can fill in the gaps. Thanks in advance. Regards, Ed
  13. Likely local smiths but there was also a Dutch production plant in Bandung (Java). They were producing the Klewang for the KNIL. The Klewang is a mix between a sword and a machete. Everything was available to produce swords even skilled workers.
  14. @Bruce Pennington the picture of the mark is taken from a Dutch site. https://www.marktplaats.nl/v/verzamelen/militaria-tweede-wereldoorlog/m2307382007-japans-officiers-showato-katana-1940-1945-gunto-stijl
  15. @BugyotsujiThank you for sharing, Piers! I was not aware of this. Regards, Ed
