  1. Good read. Appreciated.
  2. Luke, An intriguing find, the mountings exhibit many elements of the work of Shibata Zeshin, a web search should prove interesting for you. BTW, dont try to "improve" anything, leave it as is.
  3. Ford posted this example a while back, you may find it helpful.
  4. Another goody, quietly dignified dragon, beautiful healthy patina. More inome, is there a sub-theme developing here or just concidence? Cheers,
  5. There are many honest sellers on Ebay, it's just that some of the not so honest ones are so outrageous they tend to stand out.
  6. Jean, you make an excellent point. Perhaps it's meant for more of a cosmetic cleaning than an effective one?
  7. Danke Luis, Michael, J, Rohan
  8. Gentlemen, All the monday morning quarterbacking is fun but pointless......it's Ebay, dah! Pick a price you are happy with, stick to it, FINI. If the outcome is unexpected/suspect, IT'S EBAY. Cheers
  9. Ebay can certainly be an exasperating experience, it seems to get worse with each passing year. Damed if you do...damed if you don't...."Aye there"s the rub!"
  10. Good one Stephen! Happy "April Fools". Cheers
  11. Yes, I have seen this form of kozuka, they are relatively scarce, but are about. The kogatana is,in my experience, much more unusual. All in all, a very handsome piece. Cheers
  12. Most enlightening Ford, thanks for taking the time to share. Can not wait to see the results of your attentions. Cheers,
  13. I believe Curran has devoted a lot of time in the study of Norisuke, his input could solve your riddle. The Norisuke were acomplished chameleons.
  14. Although your figures are not MIYAO quality they are absolutely genuine Japanese figures. They are lower end products as to techniques and materials used in their making, date of manufacture would be later Meiji to Taisho. Cheers,
  15. Nice one Bernard, the "Negoro" repair really adds an interesting element to the mix.
  16. Ebay never ceases to entertain!
  17. One vote for Wasabi
  18. "Nudge,nudge....wink,wink.....say no more!"
  19. Robin, Indeed, the Ivory issue has become a nightmare. Overzealous, ill-informed customs agents can make life miserable, even in the case of legitimate antique items. Cheers,
  20. Robin/Alton, Robin, lovely glaze and form, a very attractive piece. Alton, very good work on the ivory, etc. descriptions. If I may, although more rarely encountered, lets not forget the various marine ivories- Walrus, Whale(various). Also, Hippopotamus. Cheers,
  21. Well done Ray. Thank you, now I can sleep tonight free of nightmares.
  22. Peter, Just Google it, you should find more images than you bargained for. Happy hunting,
  23. It is a beauty.
  24. Peter, I have seen quite a few of these, Iooks like Komai style work to me.
  25. If this is a joke, it's certainly a "DARK" one!. Sorry. Speaking of horror- "I've got to...keep...control...."
