  1. Hi folks, the title pretty much says it all... show what you got for christmas/Chanukka/Kwanzaa. It does not matter if it´s a nihonto, tosogu or even yakimono . I got myself a nice pair of mokume tsuba by Sankei: regards,
  2. I accepted this as a fact BEFORE I started studying and looking for kodugu. After some experience, I think we can put this one to bed. Gimei can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever. Raise hand if you got the movie reference.

  11. Hello, i recently bought a new tsuba, that came with an old box. The outside just mentions the mei of the tsuba "Kishu ju Sadanaga" if i am not mistaken. On the inside of the lid is quite a long text, which i am not able to translate. It would be awesome if others could help me with a rough translation. Thanks in advance ! regards,

    Tsuba 2 And 3

Hi Robin, looks like aoi leaves to me too. Nice theme and the execution looks quite good. I once heard a theory, that tsuba signed Kunihiro were forged as blankets and a different artist added sukashi or inlays later to finish it. Whether it was a workshop or if there was a connection to the sword smiths, i do not know. regards,

    Theme?

Sure looks like Daikokuten (and a rat?). Both symbols of good luck and wealth. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daikokuten ... or the Japanese version of the pied piper of Hameln :D regards,
  16. Quite good. David Bowie and Beat Takeshi in the same movie, can´t ask for much more strangeness .
  17. Jingasa Tsuba is sold! regards,
  18. Found another example in a book i bought a few days ago ("Tsuba" by Günther Heckmann): regards,
