  1. Regarding my situation, i asked the seller to write on the invoice, in english, "Japanese Antique Sword made over 100 years ago." That invoice was enclosed with shipping papers. All went pretty smoothly this way. No need for NBTHK paper translation, a simple invoice from the seller should be enough, at least for some customs. Other ones could be picky i guess.
  2. I imported a sword from Japan to France recently. It was 9706 code which applied => 5,50% VAT at the customs.
  3. Hi all, long time no see. A quick note about The Connoisseur's book of Japanese Swords , did you noticed there was a 2nd edition printing in Jan. 6, 2017 ? Prices are back to normal. Maybe i'm late to the party but wanted to let everyone know.

  5. With this offer you can't refuse, i've jump into ebooks as well. Thanks for those Meikan and Japanese Swordmiths, and thanks to Brian for the heads up, it would be a shame to pass through this
  6. A parisian library has now listed it (on order). But it is basically the same price than internet orders with shipping. https://www.junku.fr/fr/detail.php?id=33965
  7. Does anyone know in which store this book could be released in France ? I just can't spend more in the shipping than the book itself. Non-sense to me...
  8. 20 copies available now on http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/NEOBK-1829538
  9. I wish. It's a Ford Hallam work.
  10. In the same spirit of elegance :
  11. If someone sells his copy, the price will include shipping to cover his cost IMO. You should grab one before the sold out and prices explosion. 8 copies available now
  12. This phenomenon is surely involved in the interest of Japanese culture and thus Nihonto Steve. But i think there is also another thing, more unconscious : the searching of the beauty. There always be people, like our community, searching for it and speaking of Nihonto, they are so beautiful to see ! In all art related hobby, i think this is a central aspect. The more the knowledge is extended, the more emotions gets stronger as we realize how much this blade in front of us is beautiful. I like tell myself "you are watching the best blades ever made by humanity in all time" That is my Nihonto definition/representation. It may be over emphasized but hey, i like to see beautiful things
