  1. Regarding my situation, i asked the seller to write on the invoice, in english, "Japanese Antique Sword made over 100 years ago." That invoice was enclosed with shipping papers. All went pretty smoothly this way. No need for NBTHK paper translation, a simple invoice from the seller should be enough, at least for some customs. Other ones could be picky i guess.
  2. I imported a sword from Japan to France recently. It was 9706 code which applied => 5,50% VAT at the customs.
  3. Hi all, long time no see. A quick note about The Connoisseur's book of Japanese Swords , did you noticed there was a 2nd edition printing in Jan. 6, 2017 ? Prices are back to normal. Maybe i'm late to the party but wanted to let everyone know.

  5. With this offer you can't refuse, i've jump into ebooks as well. Thanks for those Meikan and Japanese Swordmiths, and thanks to Brian for the heads up, it would be a shame to pass through this
  6. A parisian library has now listed it (on order). But it is basically the same price than internet orders with shipping. https://www.junku.fr/fr/detail.php?id=33965
  7. Does anyone know in which store this book could be released in France ? I just can't spend more in the shipping than the book itself. Non-sense to me...
  8. 20 copies available now on http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/NEOBK-1829538
  9. I wish. It's a Ford Hallam work.
  10. In the same spirit of elegance :
  11. If someone sells his copy, the price will include shipping to cover his cost IMO. You should grab one before the sold out and prices explosion. 8 copies available now
  12. This phenomenon is surely involved in the interest of Japanese culture and thus Nihonto Steve. But i think there is also another thing, more unconscious : the searching of the beauty. There always be people, like our community, searching for it and speaking of Nihonto, they are so beautiful to see ! In all art related hobby, i think this is a central aspect. The more the knowledge is extended, the more emotions gets stronger as we realize how much this blade in front of us is beautiful. I like tell myself "you are watching the best blades ever made by humanity in all time" That is my Nihonto definition/representation. It may be over emphasized but hey, i like to see beautiful things
  13. still... US $810. Not so cheap for a fake !
  14. Just a little note on Fujishiro's smell : i must agree with Derek, Fujishiro's choji is very subtle, you can easy say that it is odorless compare to my old choji oil which i bought from a nihonto dealer. Just received a new Fujishiro kit, pretty stunning. (No need oiling in my area but if i need it for somereason, rather be a top quality one)
  15. Interesting thread, i was wondering the same question. I don't trust insurance at all, they always find a way to charge and blame you for whatever happen. You never get you money back with them. What about a safe in a secret place ? Because the place is very well hidden, they can't find the place. And even they do, they have to spend twice the time to open the safe. Time is everything for thieves.
  16. JC Perrin also report on his website multiples items stolen by a crook that pretends to be an auctioneer ... i don't get it
  17. Refreshing ! I think this V2 is more appropriate for the main nihonto forum of the web. Happy new year !
  18. ok, not much more to say i guess. It's an auction, announced to be Edo period, estimed to 300 Euros. It would be Kane on the mei but i'm not sure at all.
  19. Hello, This is a tanto for sale in my town. The nakago seem to be cleaned up and a new polish is clearly needed. Still, what do you think about this tanto ? Thanks for sharing
  20. Just buy yours. If you want to make profit with books, start a book business. Earn 50 usd to resell one book is hard to understand while you can : - let the other people to get a chance to have the Connoisseur's at a reasonable price. - let the real nihonto books seller as Grey, or arazawa in this case, selling this book at a reasonable price too. Nobody will pay amazon prices and believe so is not really nice to our community of nihonto enthusiasts. At least, that's what i'm thinking. BTW, the light is green, I received mine some days ago.
  21. Get in touch with Grey, best Nihonto books seller, he may have you a copy : http://www.japaneseswordbooksandtsuba.c ... word-Books
