  1. Hello Lubo, I think you are doing a nice job in your Kantei and also your restoration effort is admireable. The lines yo established on your foundation polish aren't bad. This blade may have seen a foundation polishing some years ago, was considered to be unworthy of further polishing and then left as is as we see some rather recent rust on it. The blade you have there is a solid Wakizashi and does make a good restoration project for the amateuer in your leisure time.
  2. I think a post Edo piece with drawn Hamon and rather poorly forged ...
  3. The mounts are okay... could be Higo ... looks like overcleaned iron with brass inlays. I like them. The blade is a Tsunagi ... either older piece of a broken sword reshaped or a post Edo Periode piece. Nothing you want to put any money into.
  4. Shinto ... not very valueable since Mumei ... or as the seller states: Suitable for polishing practice
  5. Congrats on your great results! Wuld love to see images of the swors as well.
  6. Greed and deception is an universally human trait of character found to be around the world but I must give Japanese people praise that they are politer than others at the same time. I enjoy dealing with Japanese people as I enjoy polite people - but just being polite doesn't mean you are an angel. I can tell about my small daughters ...
  7. Hello Ken, they do not requrire a good polish. You can submitt in rather bad polish and it can paper but possibly with just a lower number of points which in the end does not matter ... However the better the polish the btter the blade can be determined and in general the better the condition including polish the higher the number of points given. It is said that the NTHK puts more weight on the conidtion so also state of polish.
  8. Anything above 71 is equivalent to TBH level as far as I recall From my observations the points are given out rather generously. You hardly see something at 69 or 70 points. But could of course also be because there is either not much lowe end stuff submitted or it does not get papered. Personally I would not give too much on the point system.
  9. Nice Tsuba and interesting sword. BEst post more images of the bare blade. Is this coming from a French floor auction?
  10. Darcay is in my humble oppinion one of the smartest guys in the (English speaking) sword world. His reasoning is brilliant. His blog offers great wissdom and a must read. As Christopher says you can still find treasure troves out there. Things that have been forgotten for long time and turn up one days with somebody who does not know what he actually has.
  11. Hello Steve, I fully agree to Darcy. Buying an unpapered (old papered) big name dude in Japan is like picking up an allready played lottery ticket that some othe rguys has thrown away as it was a failure. Anything really big has with a 99.9% chance been run through the Japanese Shinsa system and been pinked - unless you buy it from somone who has no clue about this whole thing. There is of course a random chance that the NBTHK or NBTHK can be wrong and it is really good - but how would you prosper from that case? You would still have an unpapered sword ... no good. I have bent down and picked up that lottery ticket in the past thinking I was smarter. The truth is I was just damm stupid ...
  12. Congrats ony our very positive Shinsa result!
  13. And the whole sword thing has been unethical for centuries. Was it ethical we would not deal with all that crap that has been set up to fool people for centuries ... fake signatures, then fake papers etc. pp. .. In the end everybody buys at his expertise. You can find lost treasure on eBay as well as the finest junk not available elsewhere. It requires skill and still involves luck. Sometimes you win, sometimes you loose. You can take your money to the stock market on your own or bring it to the bank / have some else do the work for you ... you can cock your meal yourself or go to a places owned by Bocuse. In the end enjoy, stumble, learn but don't complain
  14. Yes, Jussi is right. This blade had been offered for sale here in the sales section. There was a black spot in the Hamon. After Ken had inquired about it and asked for further images it turned out that the spot was actually a pretty bad open fukure right in the Hamon. Rather large. Now aside from this blade being Gimei and not matching the workmanship of that smith / school at all - which a potential buyer is welcome to determine - I think it is not right to neither point out nor to show such a bad flaw. The seller is well aware of it. A buyer will not be based on these images and description provided. This is a major Kizu and whoever buys this will not be happy about it uppon arrival.
  15. ... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Beautiful-Katana-signed-Bishu-Osafune-Mitsuhiro/263640333985?hash=item3d62303ea1:g:2JQAAOSwbLZa3ddq
  16. Not polished in Japan. Wold not be economuc as others have explained. Otherwise you get what you see so always bid accordingly.
  17. Oh ... and you can always ask for more images and that is what you would want to do 1st
  18. I would I buy them at USD 1400? Probably not because I have no interest in NCO stuff ... are they worth 1400 USD? Probably yes ... but will they sell at USD 1400? No they won't just the premium will make it USD 1800.00 and you will more likely have to put more on the table in the end ... From the two provided images you can't tell really much. Yes it is swords ... could be a hidden Masamune amongst them as well as a complete piece of junk ... so bid accordingly a if it was junk only ..
  19. Late Muromachi at best ... and mispolished ... the Shinogi Gi is severly damaged. Also another mismatch. It is a junk piece.
  20. The Asking Price was probably okay but nothing one would really want to buy I suppose
  21. IIf you like, please show us some pics of the Tsuba and Tsuka
  22. Looks good to me
  23. You may not find one easily in Spain I franky do not know but you can easily find a quality Nihonto at your budget within Europe - fully polished and possibly and Koshirae and / or with papers. I beg your pardon for my shameless self advrtisement but have a look at my current offerings .. also other members here have great deals in the sales section of this board.
