  5. HMMM. very Interesting chris. excuse me for my ignorance and lack of education on this paper. might I ask a couple questions...the paper states Kyushu appraiser association, were they a group that strictly appraised swords or all items? whom were they ? and did they have any ties to the museum? thank you.
  6. thank you to all who have tuned in. Darcy, I have had a few of those nights myself very Interesting comments and opinions. Chris, I was not provided with a kantei-sho , only this hand written paper. thank you for shedding a little light on the kanenobu smith line, as well as a possible source for this paper. judging by the date someone wrote in the top right corner its safe to say this was written sometime in or before 1973. cheers
  7. UPDATE FOLKS..... I have been provided with found paper work from the previous deceased owners son. this sword was his fathers that passed away and as long back as he can recall his father owned it. it was purchased by him sometime before 1977..the date and how he came to own it is unclear.it has been stored away until his passing and his son discovering it and selling it to me. just a little history there for you folks..... anyway the paper work suggests the sword to be made by owari kanenobu 1317-1331. my research has fallen short of any info really on this smith other than his school was Kaneuji I believe and father was Kunitsugu I believe. your thoughts, opinions and any info you have on this smith would be great. I have not be successful finding a picture of one of this smiths swords for compare and study to mine. thank you in advance.
  8. thanks chris for confirming that... how I didn't recognize seki is beyond me at least I got the Ju kane....
  9. last kanji looks like Kane maybe the one above it is Ju ?? Ill let the more experienced kani experts tune in, im away from my books and that all i got of the top of my head, cheers
  10. I agree there are many issues with this mei in my opinion, the first kanji horizontal strokes swoop wrong and are spaced to far apart, also the suke kanji is too fat at bottom, also mei looks cut to fat in my eyes...
  11. Very Nice! might I also add a great deal and package for this maker....
  12. I think I will wait to have a coffee and wake up before I try a translation next time

  17. thank you for taking the time to comment Fred. I look forward to seeing those pics, cheers.
  18. funny, this is my sword, Andy sold it quite a long time ago, after that I have little history as i bought it through auction. doing some google searches i discovered this myself noticed the identical hamon and kissaki, after in hand comparison with mine and looking at the pictures of the one andy sold i quickly realized its the same sword.I called Andy before you posted this.. spoke with Andy, very nice fellow willing to help in any way he can. had a very pleasant conversation, yes it looks like it has been attributed to the nidai nobutaka by Yoshikawa Kentaro verbally in the past. at least I know some of its history now...
  19. well lets wait and see if fred tunes in again. thank you all who have taken the time to comment, cheers.
  20. LOL.... I just put a caliper on it and its dead center.. not your eyes! just camera playing tricks, shadows dont help, neither does the tilting of the blade... anyway do you have an opinion as to what generation this is Franco ? I would love to hear your opinion on generation and supporting evidence as to why you think it might be that generation? cheers.
  21. hello Franco and antti, thank you both for your kind comments. You bring up a good point franco when looking at a sword it is very important to look at all points and areas, this area would certainly be over looked by some and its a great point you made to make sure to look at this area.. the picture is playing tricks as Antti pointed out, sorry for the not so great picture, here is another picture that shows the mune a little better, rest assured it is center upon in hand inspection, cheers
  22. Hello.. thank you Fred for tuning in. Im fairly confident its by the nidai. here are some more pics of the nakago mune and kissaki, looks Kaeri-Tsuyoshi to me. what are your thoughts Fred? thank you for your time.
