hello folks, thank you in advance for your knowledge and time. I have a set of fittings and the Kodzuka blade is signed Bizen kuzuke daijo fujiwara sukesada I believe. can anyone help correct or confirm the mei or validate this please? im a little rusty on mei as im just picking it back up. also I have some fittings over in the Tosogu section im trying to get ideas on school and period. if any of you folks would be so kind to skip over to that post and have a peek please and give me your input. i would greatly appreciate your knowledge. im not getting any feedback on them . ive included a couple pics of fitting to show quality of the Kodzuka. thank you very much .

your dealer im guessing is referring to edo and later period swords. most koto swords are o-suriage/suriage (cut down nakago). In my opinion an ubu nakago is very important in later swords as if my memory serves me they can not get juyo if cut down nakago. this may have changed. earlier koto swords are fine. so if your asking my opinion then its doesnt matter to me being koto but if edo than for me it must be ubu.

looks like Kosho period attribution (1455,1456) , would mean a 3rd or 4th generation akihro if im not mistaken. I have a Kunishige that is similar...

congrats and what a find! we could all use a find like that once in a blue moon. to echo what Brian said that sword deserves the highest quality attention asap. cheers

thank you both of your insight and time, yes that is what i was thinking/hinting at when i said questionable. as you know I collect kamakura and have a couple muromachi blades , I dont touch later stuff and no knowledge on it really. ill see if i can get some pics, but if i can i will be able to tell by blade for sure.. he just asked about kanji so thats what i was helping him with, cheers

good day gents, usually not one for drama or a rant but thought i would share my recent personal experience with ebay seller kanetoyo2666 i recently was the top bidder and winner of one of his katana which i got a deal price on i thought. before i knew it the transaction was cancelled by him with no contact or explanation to me. when i contacted him his first reaction was to lie, he said it was dammaged? ya right i thought! long tale that is, i knew he didnt like the sale price and cancelled. i replied and stated i know it was because of the sale price and maybe in future you should put a reserve. he wrote back and and admitted he did not like the sale price and thats why he was not completing transaction. i never leave a negative but felt with the deception and lieing i had no choice and save someone the grief in the future. so i left a factual negative. he put in to ebay for a review of feedback , once again stating lies that he had contacted me before cancelling. ebay looked and seen no such messages and sided with me. long story short and the reason im putting this here is for the protection of fellow members. fact is if he is willing to tell tales and lie about messages and being lost then he is capable of lieing about the condition or authenticity of a blade.. i know see the blade listed by him on ebay for a buy it now a couple thousand higher...lol

Seen this and watched it end. Was gonna buy it just for the history and fully respect it as such even in its current condition . however someone did take a heavy grinder to this blade which is a shame and I do hope it can be saved.good luck to the new owner, I wasn't willing to roll the dice to find out how deep the grinder went.

from what i gather the sword in subject is sold as i inquired to purchase it. was a great buy for some lucky member.. congrats on sale. keep me in mind if it comes around for sale again. regards.

you all recall back in oct. 2015 this sword went missing in transit. UPDATE:::: I am posting this update to prevent a bunch of questions, or speculation about the sword in question. as Im sure it will be on the open market again one day... the sword was recovered and in fine shape with no damage. long story short with out writing a novel or going into too much detail., no one knows how it was lost in transit not even canada post, canada post was contacted by myself twice recently and i received another call back just today, and they cleared the item ,case closed.. usually if an item is deemed lost and recovered weather it be a day latter or weeks latter it goes into UMO "unclaimed" at this point it sits for 30 days (in rare cases sometimes up to 6 months but that is unheard of) 99% of the time its 30 days.. item sits on shelf waiting to be claimed,but no one claims it because no one is notified..LOL... if not claimed within 30 days the item is destroyed..99% of the time its destroyed and this is why... canada post already paid out the claim they could care less about the item or even contacting the owner because it has been paid out and case closed. you can imagine how many rare items are destroyed daily. the only time an item has a chance of recovery is if the case is still an open ticket and item is found during that time period, or its such a unique item someone recognizes it. anyway enough rambling on.. the buyer was paid out and the claim closed back in december of 2015 and refunded. he was recently contacted by myself and offered the sword back as I felt that was the right thing to do , but he has no more interest in this sword, and I dont blame him, water under the bridge and lets move forward. anyway im happy to report the sword is fine and safe and free and clear, if you have any questions feel free to PM me .. cheers.
