  1. Assuming you can't return the 'tsuba' and as it has no merit you could get it ground down File out the kozuka hitsu to the correct shape File all other edges to sharpen then up Heat it up and drop it in oil to give a bluish colour You then have a modern but better made tsuba that may not hurt your eyes! About a month ago I bought a tachi three piece tsuba that looked OK in the images - a nice colour etc When it arrived it was crap but I kept it as in my opinion it was my fault After a couple of weeks I thought I'd ask the seller if I could return it as I believed the images were enhanced The seller agreed straight away to accept the return and also refund my shipping A lucky result Grev UK

  5. Hi I know this should be on the translation and I've no problem if this post is moved I didn't put it on the correct section as in my opinion it has very limited appeal I bought two very nice books from the NMB and I have a query with one below The book was described as Sukashi tsuba but wondered if the title says more? The book is in sections (generally schools) that I've translated but I can't find two of the headings: Heianjô ? 平安城 透鐔 Akasaka ? 赤坂 鐔 後代 Can someone translate these for me? Does anyone know if there a translation for this book? With thanks Grev UK

    Tsuba Cabinet

Hi While I had my camera out I did a few more images Close ups of the draw This was made from a kids toolbox from a charity shop for £4 I added the walnut veneer and brass fittings, then made the draws and lined them I use this when taking the tsuba out of the house Now I am getting boring but that's retirement for you! Tsuba Cabinet

Hi I hope I'm not getting boring but I thought you may like to see a temporary cabinet I adapted to hold tsuba As it is temporary I didn't worry too much about the glue used and I check every couple of days to ensure all is OK I bought a cheap wooden cabinet of Ebay - It was rough so routed the corners and sanded the outside I then bought some self adhesive felt again from Ebay It was fiddly making the 96 sections and covering every face with the felt but worth it It holds 96 tsuba and its very easy to pop them in and out for viewing Each draw has the tsuba number on the front so I can find each tsuba easily The draw size width only allows me to have a maximum tsuba size of around 82mm hence the tsuba boxes on top of the cabinet I have a really nice glass cabinet they will eventually be housed in but this is a temporary measure until I sort out my lounge prior to putting up the display cabinet Grev UK
  19. Hi Michael I have this one which in my opinion is remonisant of the one you are loking Maybe of not much merit but I wouldn't sell it The size is 67 x 65 x 5.6 & 12.5 Bob Haynes said is was possibly Myochin and dated around 1750 Grev UK
