The Koshirae already has a long wakazashi in it.

 

It is a lovely IMO habaki,.... SAYAGATA pattern.... I think it is a modern made one, but I may be wrong..... I wonder if Big Mo knows who made it?

There are only 2 modern habaki makers that know how to make this pattern, Brian Tschernega and his teacher.

Oh my goodness. I am one that believes the fittings should never overshadow the blade, but that is mind-numbingly beautiful to me

I am in love with that habaki. The work is stunning, and contrasts amazingly with the shakudo.

I haven't been following this thread for a bit but was rather surprised when I saw my wakizashi as the basis for habaki-lust!

I believe it was made by Tschernega (although I'm not 100% sure) and the blade has a beautiful hada also. It's a very nice piece.

The lower left pattern is a Raimon style.... a very organised and tight Raimon pattern but Raimon all the same..... nice

the fittings were part of a sword that did not sell at the auction.

Maybe you can still get it if you´re interested. But I don´t really remember the blade...
