nihonto1001 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 I recently found this one in Naval Mounts. The hamon is chogi and it seems to have an extended kissaki. I am not sure because the ridge line is worn down. The best I can come up with is kane, Hide-Mitsu??? Got a feeling I am way off. The Kanji Pages seems to be cutting off the mei page. Any input would be appreciated, Thanks, Jon Quote
Stephen Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 http://home.earthlink.net/~ttstein/emura.jpg Nagasa please, pix of the blade. Quote
Brian Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Nice mei to find on a WW2 sword. Can I have it? http://home.earthlink.net/~steinrl/emura.htm Some say he was overrated, mostly his swords need to be evaluated in hand, as some as ok, and some mediocre. Many signed by students. But a lot of his swords exibit decent work. I still love the one I got from Stephen (I think he's still kicking himself) Brian Quote
nihonto1001 Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 Thanks for your quick replies. I will try to take some blade pics tonight. It's polish it rough and scratched. Hopefully, I can capture the hamon. I am happy it looks to be a Gendaito. Major crapshoot on this one. The previous owner did much of his own restoration work on the saya and tsuka. The tsuka was wrapped in purple nylon cord.lol He even made his own tsuba, which did not come out half bad. I am actually pretty impressed. Jon Quote
nihonto1001 Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 Here are some pics of the blade as requested: Jon Quote
John A Stuart Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Has someone tried sharpening the fukura? John Quote
nihonto1001 Posted February 25, 2011 Author Report Posted February 25, 2011 John: It sure looks like it. I think the previous owner was an aspiring ninja. The blade needs a good polish for sure. Every silver lining has a cloud. Jon Quote
