cruzinxz300zx Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 I have VERY little knowledge of these swords. Stumbled upon this one in a foreclosed home and thought it might be worth researching. Any info that can be given is greatly appreciated. The files were too large to upload here so I uploaded on my facebook. Let me know if this link doesn't work. Thanks again for the help. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=346250&id=781688218&l=47e00c33bd Quote
jason_mazzy Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 WW2 showa blade. NOt sure of the kanji, but has a calssic stamp. Also the nakago has not taken on much patina, tho I would hesitate to call it stainless looking at the rust on the kissaki. Quote
Grey Doffin Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 Hi Sean, The sword has a Seki Arsenal stamp, is signed Yoshi something (don't recognize the 2nd character; help please) and dated Showa Ju Ju Nen (1945). This is standard Army Shin Gunto. Grey Quote
John A Stuart Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 Maybe Yoshiiye, using either 義家 or 義宅 ?? Quote

cruzinxz300zx Posted December 20, 2010 Author Report Posted December 20, 2010 Thank you everyone for all the help. I can't wait to tell my family about it at christmas. Any idea's on a value range in its current condition? Not planning on selling it, just curiosity mostly. Quote
Grey Doffin Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 I would think, given the condition issues, $500 to 600 would be close. Grey Quote
cruzinxz300zx Posted December 20, 2010 Author Report Posted December 20, 2010 I have also been looking for a captains/lieutenants grade tassel for it for a good price. (I am a broke college kid) If anyone has ideas on where I could find one that would be awesome. Quote
cruzinxz300zx Posted December 20, 2010 Author Report Posted December 20, 2010 Thank you Grey. If the blade's issues were restored? Would it be worth the price of getting it restored by a professional or because it isn't a handmade blade would it not really be worth it? Quote
Grey Doffin Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 The cost of restoration would far exceed the sword's value once fully restored. Grey Quote
cruzinxz300zx Posted December 20, 2010 Author Report Posted December 20, 2010 That's what I thought. Thanks for all the help Grey. Quote
