It’s signed Nobumasa and dated October 1943. There is a stamped “80” and also potentially a “na” stamp on the mei side. You should add "NLF" to your username - "NLF Swords.” You still throw that term around in literally every translation request you post even though it’s incorrect. These are Army swords….

tough to see, but a bit more clear on the eBay listing

Thanks Sam.  An odd one.  I have several of his blades with numbers, but they are 3 and 4 digit and follow sequentially.  As Gilda Radner said - It's always somethin'!

Agree with the corrected translation from Moriyama san. I didn’t look closely enough at it. It’s an interesting sword having lacquered tsuka ito and a lacquered wood saya.

I believe it's a lightly struck Nagoya army arsenal stamp. I see a lot of these on 95s, and it looks about right

Thanks to all for your help I agree Conway it’s interesting the tsuka  an saya are lacquered

According to the seller the sword doesn’t fit in the saya and he doesn’t know why? My guess there not compatible

I thought it would be a buying opportunity but don’t think so now

It’s still listed on EBay if anyone’s interested
