WW2 Japanese sword with Nlf saya

I have 2 swords am interested in seeing what others think The saya looks polished 

the tsuka has a nfl wrapping and Interesting hamon

Saw those on ebay as well. The hamon looks a bit like the Yokoyama school choji pattern. But like Brian said, the nakago is scary. Not sure what someone did to it.

BTW, while folks on Ebay still use the term NLF, we prefer not to as these swords were Army swords and not particular to any one group or unit.

I suppose that's one way of making a mismatched nakago and tsuka fit. 
Usually, they file out the wood but this guy has 'ski-sloped' the metal tang instead. 🤣🤣🤣

I wonder what was the purpose of acid etching

John I know what you mean about the NLF just used it for sword reference 

At my least it has an interesting hamon Too bad the guy messed with it

The acid etching is something and Joe Bloe and do which gives an appearance of a full polish to the untrained eye, without spending thousands of dollars for a real polish.

 

And as an FYI, all the fittings, not just the tsuka, are Rinji Seishiki (Type 3; Type 100; Type 44; etc; etc).

Took a second look and just noticed the boshi appears to run completely off the kissaki. IMHO that's the kind of thing you should be looking out for rather than the fittings.
