DirkO Posted October 1 Report Posted October 1 For those of you who haven't noticed - Ito Mitsuru (well-known Japanese collector which you know for writing the 3 Higo books, Nobuie articles, book on Katanakake,...) has started a blog. This looks like it will be well worth the read. Blog 2 2 2 Quote

Are there any estimates on what the tariff impact might be? i am asking after reading this import from Japan horror story in the General section. https://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/53371-importing-nihonto-through-us-customs-and-tariff-info/ Some info on import duties https://www.shoppinginjapan.net/import-taxes-usa/ I also saw this statement. Japan Post announced it will temporarily suspend most U.S.-bound parcels, including gifts worth more than $100 and any items intended for sale. Letters, postcards, documents and small personal gifts under $100 will still be accepted, but larger or commercial shipments will need to go through private couriers such as DHL or UGX. So it looks to me like there are some new hoops to jump through to get a copy. Edited October 2 by Tim Evans Quote

Yes, the tariff will have some impact- but this is one purchase where I would just eat the cost. However... that said: I did try and buy the book today, but found that I could not complete the purchase. Shipping to the USA was not an option. Probably tariff related issue. My two main interest have been Higo (especially kinko) and Owari (iron). It has been a long time since I so anticipated a book. If I have to beg someone going the DTI to send me back a copy, I probably will. Quote
Tim Evans Posted October 2 Report Posted October 2 Chris, I added to my initial question above for more clarity. Maybe a US sword dealer can import some copies? I would prepay to reserve one. Quote
Toryu2020 Posted October 2 Report Posted October 2 I was able to order thru the website - U.S. address - 8,800 yen for shipping - will have to wait and see for the tariff... ALso note they printed only 500 copies so expect this to be a hot item. 1 1 Quote
