I agree with Thomas.

These are both papered Yagyū and the wave carving is much more subtle, 'fluid' and less stylised IMO.

They are not mine, I just found them online to illustrate the wave carvings. However, most of the Yagyū tsuba I've held in hand have been thick (I'd guess around 6-7 mm) and square edged.

The first one was mine long ago, before papered and sold it.

I believe the second one belongs to a forum member, but I think he is busy & relatively off-line for the next few months.

@BIG Seeing any key details about the texture of iron of the plate and the rim of the tsuba in the photos provided is exceedingly difficult for me. I might have a display issue on my computer, or I might have clicked on something incorrectly as the language of the website is German. The examples provided by @Simon R are some exceptional reference examples. The bottom Yagyu tsuba I think was sold between local collector friends and later to Gery Doffin a while ago.
