I think the kanji on the left in the first picture "up water" means tap water.

1st pic:
(Navy) sailor 2nd Class, Hirose  (広瀬上水)　上水= 上等水兵

Hirose is a family name.

十六嵐部隊 – 16^th Arashi corps (Maybe a nickname of an assault squad)

The stitched characters may mean a family name.

I am unsure about the first character.

フサノ (Fusano), クサノ (Kusano), アサノ (Asano), or others.
