It seems I need some help!

 

 

 

What I think to see is "丁田作左衛門国具". But its more guesswork, except of the characters in green...the yellow ones I'm "half confident" of?!

This box allegdely belongs to a late, high class armor and I'm about to collect as much info as possible to establish or reject a connection....

 

Any help or hint is greatly appreceated!

A suit of armor for SHIMODA Sakuzaemon.
下田作左衛門御具(足)

 

Shimoda is a family name, Sakuzaemon is 1st name.

This 下田作左衛門 (Shimoda Sakuzaemon) might be the man.

He took the place of his father in Tenpo 13^th year (1842) according to the following document.

Of course Piers, I played with 下, but was irritated by the missing stroke! Unfortunately, it didn't occur to me that a character could be missing. So I was helpless with 御 also….

 

Thanks for assembling the pieces and the clarification, Morita San. I sometimes struggle to put first names and last names in the right order. 
 

Moriyama San, that is unbelievable. I had no hope of getting that close. He might fit time wise. Now I’ve to check the mon for a possible connection!
