Looks like 明暦四年二月日 - Meireki yon nen ni gatsu hi - a day in February, 1658

Thanks 🙏 😊 so much Ray for the fast response

It’s greatly appreciated

I was to understand this is a 3 body cutting test ?

Am I correct ?

No one wants to ship the Tameshigiri mei identification book selling on eBay at the moment to Canada for some strange reason so I’m in the dark stuck with the little information on the internet from swords sold and their descriptions

タイク - Taiku (?)

二ツ胴三ツ胴 - futatsu-dô mitsu-dô - cut through two and three bodies.

OOHHHHH ..lol awesome ...I thought I was jumping the gun....first I read it as 3 and then 3 but I thought ...I've never seen that many on a sword so it must only be 3 bodies at the most.

So 3 and then 2 ...I'm so happy.

Thanks so much again Mr. Singer.

You've been a great help.

I'm very happy. :)

タイ〱 (the third mark is a "repetition" mark, so the cutting test is たいたい or 太太 = taitai)

Most epic .....

Thanks so much SteveM. for adding some information.

There is a long line of other inserted gold kanji I'm not aware of plus a well known cutters name and a kao at the bottom.

I've very glad that I bought this blade now.

Steven,

Do you have this blade?  If not, do you have a full photo showing the cutting tester's kao at the bottom.  Also need his name if you have it, thanks!

You do know Steven is no longer here right?
