Could someone please help me with this sword having recently just joined this forum I have been trying just to collect Wartime swords.

But recently I picked this sword  up...

Would be ever so grateful for any information about the sword .

Many thanks Gareth D1EB7D0E-DA62-4185-8892-FD940D931926.thumb.jpeg.9c6482503fe0fa3a34d812c3b7d57872.jpegD480D186-49DC-46E0-B1C9-D203CECACB69.thumb.jpeg.3c66165958b917d0f970fc15952a55b9.jpeg0EFB6549-6587-45E5-B4C7-76E945B1960C.thumb.jpeg.22c2d17a0a858ddcc88f7bd4c9ae0d4b.jpeg3C8A860B-1EEB-4F5E-B9B4-10E02CF4AB4C.thumb.jpeg.a883b4db4e700445b3371586f64d0465.jpeg432BE5FE-3799-491B-B5CF-1C431FA3EA98.thumb.jpeg.8aedff0652eae85d2a1c0b91666fb88e.jpeg

Hi Gareth, can you provide a clear vertical photo of the nakago (tang) of the sword with the handle removed? So far, you are showing is an older katana in above-average quality mountings. Certainly pre-war (in case you had a question about age).

Best regards,

Ray

This looks like a shinshinto blade (in a non-traditional polish). Would like to see the entire nakago, but that is my impression.

Hi Gareth,

Please post a picture of the nakago (tang) against a dark background. Your camera is adjusting to the white background and we can see no detail on the nakago.

Dear Gareth.

On the plus side you have a really nice katana in good condition, polish not withstanding, in nice koshirae.  Silver foiled habaki, nice shi shi fittings and attractive saya.  Well done!

One significant drawback, this might ruin you for collecting WWII swords. :)

All the best, Celt to Celt.
