Itomagoi Posted July 24, 2021 Report Posted July 24, 2021 Hello, I have these two Tsuba and at first glance they look the same. I am looking for Information about them, but I do not get anywhere. Maybe someone can tell me something about it? Thank you in advance. 1 1 Quote
Itomagoi Posted July 26, 2021 Author Report Posted July 26, 2021 Normally I would not look further for information about these tsuba, but because they are so similar I find it interesting and maybe there are others that look similar. Quote
Spartancrest Posted July 26, 2021 Report Posted July 26, 2021 Peter there are certainly a few 'Utsushi' of the plum tree. The first image is perhaps the closest to yours but as luck would have it, it has no information. The fourth example is also very similar except for the overall shape. These links are to the images other than the first. I hope they are of some use. https://nihonto.com.au/product/kikugawa-school-plum-blossom-tsuba-with-nthk-certificate/ https://www.artelino.com/show/japanese_single_print.asp?mbk=3258 https://www.catawiki.com/en/l/21676493-iron-tsuba-nbthk-origami-aizu-ikko-plum-tree-Japan-17th-18th-century Quote
Itomagoi Posted July 26, 2021 Author Report Posted July 26, 2021 Yes, that is a help. Thank you very much. Quote
MauroP Posted July 26, 2021 Report Posted July 26, 2021 Hi Peter, I'd suggest Aizu-Shōami, mid to late Edo period. Quote
cdrcm12 Posted July 27, 2021 Report Posted July 27, 2021 Hi Peter, A good topic, I have this one that I wondered if Mito school but Mauro's attribution to Aizu-shoami could fit as well. The branches wrap round the mimi from one side to the other. Quote
Brian Posted July 28, 2021 Report Posted July 28, 2021 Try and upload the pics here. Your links don't allow for them to be shown here. Quote
cdrcm12 Posted July 28, 2021 Report Posted July 28, 2021 Sorry Brian, the images seemed to show when I originally posted?? I've now uploaded below. Quote
Itomagoi Posted July 28, 2021 Author Report Posted July 28, 2021 Tgis is also a very nice example, Colin. :-) Quote
