JH Lee Posted March 20, 2021 Report Posted March 20, 2021 Looks like someone got a very nice deal! Quote
Grey Doffin Posted March 20, 2021 Report Posted March 20, 2021 I think this is something put together late Meiji or maybe after the war, to be sold to western tourist or occupation forces. The finish on the saya is suspicious and the ko jiri is klunky at best. It was a bargain only because the price was so low.. But better minds may know better. Grey Quote

Stephen Posted March 21, 2021 Report Posted March 21, 2021 Deal ? No Deal? No deal....Grey explains why. Quote
Baka Gaijin Posted March 22, 2021 Report Posted March 22, 2021 Hi guys, out of interest, have a closer look at the Kojiri, imagine it without the applied Pseudo Tokugawa Kamon. Looks like a repurposed Kojiri from a longer Koshirae. I wonder if we are dealing with early Meiji? If so, then this falls into the category of Hama Mono i.e. things from the Port, made up from bits and pieces to be sold to the Tourists. An interesting piece of History nonetheless. 1 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted March 22, 2021 Report Posted March 22, 2021 The Kozuka looks to have been double bent to fit into a saya... trick of the light? Quote
