Dan tsuba Posted March 18, 2021 Report Posted March 18, 2021 Hello all, I recently inherited a daito. I finally felt confident enough to take it apart. I noticed some marks on both sides of the tang. Can someone tell me if that is the name of the maker on one side and a date on the other ? And if so, what does it say ?? I tried to take the best pics that I could. I think I will have to do it in 2 messages, since I can only upload one pic to this message. Thank you all, With respect, Dan Quote
Dan tsuba Posted March 18, 2021 Author Report Posted March 18, 2021 Here is the other side of the tang. Thanks alot !! Dan Quote
Grey Doffin Posted March 18, 2021 Report Posted March 18, 2021 Hi Dan, Yes, a signature and date; I see hachi gatsu hi, a day in August, in your 2nd picture. Try taking pictures from a bit further out; these are too close up. Also, if you use a raking light the kanji will be easier to see. As is, it is hard to make out much. Grey Quote
DMNK Posted March 18, 2021 Report Posted March 18, 2021 I think the signature appears to be kanehiro, but I might be wrong. 2 1 Quote
uwe Posted March 19, 2021 Report Posted March 19, 2021 So to sum up what we have so far: ”兼廣” (Kanehiro) “ロロロロ八月日” (ロロロロ hachi gatsu hi) 2 Quote
