Hector Posted Tuesday at 12:11 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 12:11 PM These things are everywhere. One sold on Yahoo for ¥22,000 and there's currently one on Mercari for ¥25,600. I still don't understand why Shibui Swords is in denial. Doubling down instead of admitting an honest mistake won't uphold a highly respected reputation - it will only damage it. 2 1 Quote
Hokke Posted Tuesday at 04:26 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 04:26 PM It’s likely one of two reasons…. Genuinely believes they have the original or Purchased it as original and must sell as original in order not to lose money im not aware of anyone here having had the opportunity to actually hold it in hand, so I don’t know anyone can claim 100% that it’s a copy, however, the pictures don’t seem to be ambiguous… Quote

So option two it must be. 1 Quote

Given that I wrote him a letter and spoke with him by phone earlier this year, the Varshavsky collection is guilty of fake news here. I hate that term. In his late 90s now, Bob is still an active asset to this field of art + other fields too. 4 1 Quote

Well....yes and no. After all, people often see what they WANT to see, regardless of evidence......hence 2+ BILLION christians and two BILLION muslims Quote
Curran Posted Wednesday at 01:53 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 01:53 AM Just the basics here: The design is a long known and recognized Myochin that EVERYBODY copied even back in Edo. So: (0) Originals (1) you get a Tosa Myochin copy of the original..... (2) some other schools copied it too, in their own way (3) a few modern utsushi (4) a lot of fake cast ones. If I were into the design, I'd be careful with them unless I could handle it first and study it myself. There are just too many copies of it around. Don't make a mountain out of a molehill on this one, or digress into an argument about religions and the world. Just learn to recognize it as one of the dangerous designs. There are a few Akasaka designs that are nearly as often copied or faked. etc, etc, etc.... 2 Quote
