Mark C Posted December 8, 2019 Report Posted December 8, 2019 Hi Everyone, Please can I have some help with this torokusho. I have got: Date - 6th April 1967 Tanto Nagasa - 14.6cm Sori - 0.2cm Mekugi ana - 1 Mei - Bizen Osafune Kanemitsu Would like to know what two the character stamp is above the blued out number? Many thanks Mark Quote
Mark C Posted December 8, 2019 Author Report Posted December 8, 2019 Thanks Uwe, I wonder if this is the prefecture that the torokusho was issued? Mark Quote
Mark C Posted December 9, 2019 Author Report Posted December 9, 2019 Here is the nakago of the kogarasu tanto that the torokusho belongs to. I can see the Bizen Osafune ( 備前長船 ) and Kane but having trouble seeing the Mitsu kanji, What do you think? I'm going to say Gimei until I clarify otherwise. It also looks like someone (not me) has been cleaning Many thanks Mark Quote
16k Posted December 9, 2019 Report Posted December 9, 2019 Hi Mark, was it cleaned or is it a recent sword? Can you show the rest of the tango? EDIT: oops! I realized you said it was cleaned too! Sorry! 1 Quote
Mark C Posted December 9, 2019 Author Report Posted December 9, 2019 Hi JP, Hope you are well. Not had it more than 24hrs so not had time to take my own pictures yet but here is one. Quote
SteveM Posted December 9, 2019 Report Posted December 9, 2019 Yes, Hyōgo (兵庫) is the location where the registration was issued (the stamp is repeated on the left side as well) 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted December 9, 2019 Report Posted December 9, 2019 I can see the Bizen Osafune ( 備前長船 ) and Kane but having trouble seeing the Mitsu kanji, What do you think?.... Yes, MITSU is correct. It is indeed written a bit sloppily. 1 Quote
16k Posted December 10, 2019 Report Posted December 10, 2019 Hi Mark, I’m fine and hope you are too! That seems to be a nice tanto. Love the Moroha Zukuri shape. Too bad the tang was cleaned. Apart from that, it’s hard to tell anything as the picture doesn’t show Hada. You should post it in the Nihonto section, see if any Bizen specialist can date it. Even though it’s been cleaned, the yasurime seem very crisp, so probably later Sue Bizen, but I’m probably wrong, as usual! 1 Quote
Mark C Posted December 10, 2019 Author Report Posted December 10, 2019 Thanks Steve, Jean and JP, I will try to get some pictures and post them in the Nihonto section. Yes, I liked it and I don't have a Tanto of this form so added this one to my collection. In my mind I have it mid 19c with a gimei signature but I'm usually wrong as well lets see what others think. 16k Posted December 10, 2019 Report Posted December 10, 2019 Yes, you are probably right. I’ve just noticed the yasurime was Keisha, so bye bye Koto... Quote
