Bruce Pennington Posted May 28, 2019 Report Posted May 28, 2019 Thank you Juyo. You are the best. Geoffry, Do the fittings have the same "535" number stamped on them? Could we see a picture of the saya (scabbard) also? Quote
george trotter Posted May 28, 2019 Report Posted May 28, 2019 Nice to see that on this Tomomaro blade and on the other one in Ray's link, the shinogi under the habaki both have the polisher's nagashi signature...I say this as my two Yamagami Munetoshi blades (one RJT) both have them also. It might be significant that Munetoshi and Tomomaro were both members of the Northern Area Sword Assoc. mentioned...maybe the assoc had a classy set of polishers working for them? I notice also that the quality of the koshirae on Assoc. blades is of a high standard. Wonder who their polishers/koshirae mounters were? Sounds like a good survey topic.... (Bruce?) Regards, Quote

Geoffry Persoon Posted May 28, 2019 Author Report Posted May 28, 2019 Hi guys you are totally right about the numers of the seppa and tsuba parts. I have also made some pics of the saya. I'll hope you reconize this koshirae maker in your own gunto koshirae. Best regards Quote
Geoffry Persoon Posted May 28, 2019 Author Report Posted May 28, 2019 Geoffry, Do the fittings have the same "535" number stamped on them? Could we see a picture of the saya (scabbard) also? Hello i have post some new pics of the gunto koshirae sir. Best regards Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted May 28, 2019 Report Posted May 28, 2019 Thanks Geoffry, it confirms what I was thinking about the stamped number. They seem to be prefered by some fitters to painting numbers on the nakago. So far, the fittings are a bit higher quality than average that have the stamped numbers.
