knifeguy66 Posted October 30, 2018 Report Posted October 30, 2018 I have come in possession of a few swords that I believe to be Authentic. I have taken the handle off of one and was wanting to see if someone can translate what was beneath the handle. I have attached a couple of pictures of the text that I need translated. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone needs any additional information to help with the translation process please let me know. Thanks ahead of time! Quote

knifeguy66 Posted November 2, 2018 Author Report Posted November 2, 2018 Thank you all for identifying this sword for me. Like I said additional swords, and I have attached a pic of another that I need help identifying. Thanks in advance! Quote
ROKUJURO Posted November 2, 2018 Report Posted November 2, 2018 KNIFEGUY,please sign all posts with your first name plus an initial, so we can address you properly. It is a rule here. The signature is easier to read for us when you show the NAKAGO in the correct position, that is tip up. This one looks like MITSUNOBU. It helps to make an assessment when you show the blades 'naked', that is without TSUBA, HABAKI and SEPPA.There is a KAO (personal seal) below the MEI, which I have not seen on a military blade (I am not a specialist in this field), so the blade may be somewhat older. . .
