Tony Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 Hi, Does anyone know any good qualified nihonto polisher in Canada? Tony Quote
b.hennick Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 Hi Tony: There is one fully qualified polisher Takeo Seki in Vancouver. There are other people who polish who have not undegone full Japanese formal training. Quote
Tony Posted May 20, 2008 Author Report Posted May 20, 2008 Hi Barry, thank you very much for your info. I heard we have couple of nihonto polisher here in Ontario, but I just can't locate them. Have you ever heard of them before? Tony Quote
Walter Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 There's Louis Skebo in Ottawa. Here's his website: http://www.japaneseswordcollector.com/ However I'm not 100% if he still doing the polishing jobs - you can email and ask him. Quote
Guest Nanshoku-Samurai Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 It doesn't matter whom you go with as long as it is not Don Myra from Port Alberni (formerly also known as Gaijins Guide). Mr. Myra still has about a douzen blades of mine and several thousand $$$ + swords + money from at least another 3 collectors and all of us have been unable to retain our property even through the help of the RCMP. Don Myra used to be a reliable guy for almost two decades but he has went nuts as it seems. So stay away from him unless you want to get badly screwed. Max Quote
Kevin Adams Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 You could also try to get in touch with Doug Blain through the Toronto Token Kai... Quote
drbvac Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 Louis Skebo is still at it - he is a couple of months behind on full polishes as he does a lot of initial prep work for Japanese customers! He is also working on some Jumonji Yari which take a LONG time. Nice guy to work with. Quote
Tony Posted May 27, 2008 Author Report Posted May 27, 2008 Anyone knows this polisher ? He also works in Canada. Tony Quote

loui Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 Hi Guys, I am still polishing, also dealing with a back injury from my career job - firefighting. I am very behind as usual and won't take on any other work for a long time. Remzy, your blade is straight, chips removed, edge fixed, reshaped, kissaki reshaped. Will be interesting to see how it turns out. Brian, still gazing at yours, will be working on it shortly. Thanks for everyone's patience. Regards, Louis Quote
Brian Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 Louis, Bet you are the only modern firefighter carrying a Tobikuchi Take it easy with the health, speedy recovery. Good to hear you are still out there and doing your thing. Regards, Brian Quote
loui Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 I used to bring swords to work as I was at a slow station, had my own room (with a lock)for finish work. Not a good idea to bring swords to the workplace now though:) Regards, Louis Quote
