So How About This Kozuka?

Of course the pictures are bad, but I think there is quite a lot of detail in that Eagle? Though the plums are somewhat strange in my eyes... How would you rate that work in relation to average?

For me, the workmanship on this one isn't that stunning.

 

~However~ it is a papered work from a very desired school and maker. This one will probably go for a large amount.

I'd be up for a betting pool on final price.

I wouldn't mind having this kozuka by 石黒政美 Ishiguro Masayoshi, and the composition is nice. That it is shibuichi is a bonus for me. Workmanship; hmmm, 7/10. John

Last sale of this piece, I am aware of, was as part of a lot of 9 at Christies in 2008.  Price realized was USD8,750, I thought it looked familiar.

Overall a quite respectable piece.

 

Agree, the shibuichi looks to be of excellent quality, plus the mei cut, too, to my eye.
