Prewar70 Posted June 14, 2017 Report Posted June 14, 2017 I apologize for the poor pic right now, but anything you can make out? Seems like a lot going on in a small space. Thank you. Quote

Prewar70 Posted June 14, 2017 Author Report Posted June 14, 2017 Okay now trying to find this smith in the books. Obviously not the Aoe smith. Having some trouble locating this smith. Seskos book shows a smith that signed this way except his name was Tsugutoshi, 1801-1804. Any help would be appreciated. Is the inscriptions of nanban-tetsu or imported iron special? I've read that this was a precious imported iron. I will keep reading but info on this inscription and why it was used would be nice to know. Thanks. Quote
cisco-san Posted June 16, 2017 Report Posted June 16, 2017 Hi, but there is one Tsuguyoshi (継吉) in Markus book: TSUGUYOSHI (継吉), Jōkyō (貞享, 1684-1688), Echizen – “Echizen Ōmi no Kami Fujiwara Tsuguyoshi” (越前近江守藤原継吉) Quote
Toryu2020 Posted June 16, 2017 Report Posted June 16, 2017 The Meikan lists two Tsuguyoshi with this signature, One in Kanbun and one in Teikyo - I would look for info on the Shimozaka school... -t 1 Quote
