Jason, it appears the kissaki has been reshaped less than professionally; is it possible to see if the hamon is still intact on it?

Hi Steve, and Happy New Year.  It's hard to say from the pictures.  I can make out windows of what looks like irregular hamon up and down the length of the blade.  Hopefully it wasn't damaged beyond repair. I didn't take the pictures and I'm not able to inspect it in person as it's in GA at the moment.  I've included all pictures available to me at this time.

The shape caught my eye and I was curious as to it's pedigree.  It seems to definitely had some less than professional work done to it at some point in it's past.  The overall length of the blade including tang is 35.5" with the cutting edge being 25.5".

Jason,

whatever it is - if you look at the signature, it is probably an oil-hardened WWII blade - the KISSAKI had been broken off and an amateur tried to reshape it with wrong tools and methods. So don't buy it unless you see any reasonable thought in owning it.
