certification papers

So how or where does one find someone to certify the authenticity of a sword ? I was told these folks come to america once in awhile. anyone know of an occasion for this?

Next year at the Chicago sword show, the NTHK npo will hold a shinsa ( authentication certification ). Check, Mid Western Token Kai for dates

I guess that is not too long to wait. I was told that my sword would be worth upwards of $8k if I got it certified.

While on this subject.... Brian and any one else that knows,

 

If you submit a blade in Koshirae to shinsa do they evaluate just the blade alone?

 

If the Koshirae (maybe Kozuka, Gokatana, Fuchi, Tsuba, etc) are worth consideration do these have to be sumitted separately? Can they be submitted at all? Or will they evaluate everything at once?

For the NTHK:

 

If you want the blade evaluated, you submit just the blade only, no fittings.

 

For the blade's koshirae, you submit the whole package.

 

2 seperate evaluations. 2 seperate papers. 2 seperate fees.

 

 

Not sure of the NBTHK submital process.

Same for NBTHK.

 

Blade doesn't have to be inside the koshirae. A tsunagi or partial tsunagi that holds it all together is fine.
