TETSUGENDO Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Not quite sure what to make of this. Comments, opinions, please. Steven K Quote
Grey Doffin Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Mid to late Edo, temple bell, but you probably already knew that. Grey Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted December 8, 2015 Author Report Posted December 8, 2015 Thanks Grey, I do. I was looking for an opinion on school, etc. I don't quite know where to place this. Steven K Quote

ROKUJURO Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 Steven,I have been looking at your photos quite a while. The design of a temple bell is not so unusual, but the way this TSUBA was made looks special to me. The inner part looks as if it was from an old corroded piece of iron which was then brought back to life with an iron FUKURIN and two SHAKUDO inserts. Maybe an old TSUBA has been used, who knows? TETSUGENDO Posted December 10, 2015 Author Report Posted December 10, 2015 Jean, I have also been trying to decide if this piece is built on an old Tsuba, or if it was designed this way in toto at its inception. I don't know either. BTW the mounts are rather heavy gauge silver- I probably should have noted the materials. Perhaps an old Tsuba with some special meaning to the person who had this piece "created"? Thanks for taking the time to comment. Steven K Quote
Toryu2020 Posted December 11, 2015 Report Posted December 11, 2015 a great piece either way. -t Quote
