Jim P Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 Hi Guys, Can I please get your thoughts on this mei its on a old katana. I thought it was a strange kuni. But a friend thought it was a strange Kane he also thought the next kanji look like Tsugu. Thanks Quote
Maurice_lmb Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 it looks like Mori (Moritsugu) Maurice Quote
Nobody Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 I tend to agree with Moritsugu - 盛次. 1 Quote
Jean Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 I had 盈 Mitsu, did not find this Mori in the Nihonto Kanji Pages, I shall add it Quote
Jim P Posted November 17, 2015 Author Report Posted November 17, 2015 Thanks guys, I don’t think I would have worked this one out in a hurry. Is this way of signing Moritsugu common ? as now I am trying to narrow it down. Thanks, Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 There are about 20 of them listed in Marcus' index. Jean - I never would've guessed "Mitsu", I'll have to add that kanji to my mental database. It's very portable, but the speed is atrocious and there are severe limitations to size... Quote
Jim P Posted November 18, 2015 Author Report Posted November 18, 2015 Hi Guys, As this blade is signed katana mei I am looking at Aoe as a possible school are the smiths of the Aoe Moritsugu group known for signing in this way ? Quote
