kissakai Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 Hi Alan Bales website was mentioned in an earlier post so I bought the Ito sukashi tsuba It is illustrated in Behren's Catalogue #2099 Can anyone let me have a scan and description from the catalogue? If anyone has had a problem contacting Alan it is because he is having a few internet problems Grev UK Quote
Stephen Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 pix please always like to see what you buy Quote
kissakai Posted October 20, 2015 Author Report Posted October 20, 2015 Hi Stephen I don't have it yet but will post images when I get it I'm quite excited about this one and if it is only half as good as my other sukashi ito tsuba I'll be over the moon Obviously if someone does a scan you will see it earlier Grev UK Quote

kissakai Posted October 20, 2015 Author Report Posted October 20, 2015 Hi Sorry to be a bit obtuse re 'all of AB tsuba are stock number 1700s few 1600' I think the stock number is over 1700 but it is the only one that is described as sukashi ito Grev UK Quote
kissakai Posted October 20, 2015 Author Report Posted October 20, 2015 Thanks Stephen Alan said there was no rust and has a good brown patina so nothing like the image As I said earlier I will post images when I get the tsuba Can I go back to my original request: It is illustrated in Behren's Catalogue #2099 Can anyone let me have a scan and description from the catalogue? Grev UK Quote
kissakai Posted October 23, 2015 Author Report Posted October 23, 2015 Thanks for taking the trouble to scan and post the images I may get the tsuba Mon/Tues so it will be nice to compare it to the image Grev UK Quote
Kai-Gunto Posted October 23, 2015 Report Posted October 23, 2015 Description says its a grasshopper , but It looks like a cricket! Quote
kissakai Posted October 24, 2015 Author Report Posted October 24, 2015 I will post better images tomorrow assuming it stops raining It is a cricket due to the long antennae Comparing the nakago ana deformations and the position and shape of the punch marks I'm sure this is the same tsuba that is in the Behren's catalogue If it is then I wonder where it has been. I'll ask Alan Bale where he got it from I was assured it was in good condition and how I have it in hand I'm very pleased with the tsuba Grev UK 1 Quote
kissakai Posted October 25, 2015 Author Report Posted October 25, 2015 Hi I have done the images. There was a lot of muck in ito sukashi that was really stubborn to move The patina is very dark brown and in quite good condition I am convinced this is the same tsuba that is in the Behrens catalogue - was a collection or auction catalogue? Alan said this came from a auction of 6 tsuba so no idea of its history which is a same My other ito sukashi is Mito school around 1800 although the Mito tsuba has the ito sukashi at half the width of this one Any ideas on school and date?
