SwordGuyJoe Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 All, It dawned on me, since the Japanese Sword Index is now maintained by the NMB, that we could now expand/update the oshigata database to include more examples of existing smiths as well as add some that are missing. This site was vital for me as a new collector, when I had a rather paltry book collection - mainly Slough's, and I still occasionally visit it when trying to help newer members here quickly/when mobile. I think it would be excellent if we could update this site and that it would be beneficial not just for us, but for others in the community that are looking for information on Showa era smiths. Is there any support or willingness to take on this update? I would be happy to assist in anyway possible. 1 Quote
Brian Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 Rich still controls the data, I just upload and host it. Yes..I would be happy to add to it, and don't think it would be too difficult to add a bunch of smiths. I agree it is a very useful resource. I am sure we could easily have people contributing pics for this. Will wait to hear from Rich. Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted September 23, 2015 Author Report Posted September 23, 2015 Perfect! I look forward to hearing from Rich. Quote
Rich S Posted September 25, 2015 Report Posted September 25, 2015 Guys, I really flattered that you would want a continuation of my oshigatas; but unfortunately I no longer have the graphics software to resize, crop, edit or add print to graphics or the physical strength to do a major addition. I would suggest that someone else do something similar on their site. I would be glad to post a prominent link on my oshigata page. Sorry, but I'm just not up to it Rich 2 Quote

Thank you for what you have done and what you still do. Quote
Rich S Posted September 26, 2015 Report Posted September 26, 2015 Guys, Thanks for the kind words, but I'm not goo in the ground yet :-) Just a decrepit, old man. Rich 1 Quote
