CurtisR Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 Just curious if anyone has heard whether it (or perhaps one up in the Northern U.S.) will be happening next year? I'm realy hoping that Tampa will happen next February & searched on-line but can't find any info. Also, I have a dillemma....let's say you have a sword or two that you want to submit, and think they may do well & become valuable after Shinsa. Do those here who've attended these prefer to drive the items to the Shinsa, or fly them? I have the travel-tube, etc. for an aircraft but it really worries me with TSA rules, baggage theft, etc. ~ Advice from The Wise would be much appreciated! Cheers, Curtis R. Lakewood, CO USA Quote
Stephen Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 There is shinsa just a few months away in Chicago, with more than a few offering the service to submit for a fee. Quote
CurtisR Posted February 8, 2015 Author Report Posted February 8, 2015 Thank you Stephen - I'm actually wanting to have it done by the NTHK-NPO if possible....I'll look up the Chicago show and see who is doing the Shinsa. Curtis R. Quote
Stephen Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 Its NTHK contact Thomas (at the) Helm http://www.chicagoswordshow.com/shinsa-information/ Quote
cabowen Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 Curtis, I will be organizaing an NTHK-NPO Shinsa at the Tampa show in February 2016. We will again offer the mail in option. You can contact me for specifics privately. Quote
Soshin Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 Hi Everyone,I have a signed o-tanto in good polish that I was advised to submit to the NTHK-NPO as well. I don't think it would be worth submitting it to the NBTHK in Japan. I will likely use the mail-in service being run by Chris in 2016. Not sure I will be attending the Tampa show next year. Quote
cabowen Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 Let me know if there is anything I can do for you...Hope you can make it but either way you will be taken care of.... Quote
Kronos Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 Quick question, when's the next US shinsa after Chicago in April? (if one is scheduled yet). Quote
Soshin Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 Hi, Tampa, Florida Feburary 2016. The specific days have not been set. It is being run by NTHK-NPO. Chris Bowen is a director of the NTHK-NPO. Quote

CurtisR Posted February 11, 2015 Author Report Posted February 11, 2015 Excellent Chris - I have to vote my vacation in November this year for 2016 and the dates help a LOT! I'd like to attend actually, and do some learning....I somehow suspect there will be Sake available as well? Curtis R. Quote
Grey Doffin Posted February 12, 2015 Report Posted February 12, 2015 There is a possibility that the dates for Tampa in 2016 will change so don't book anything yet. If I learn more I'll post it on the board. Grey Quote
Grey Doffin Posted February 17, 2015 Report Posted February 17, 2015 Hi folks, I have just heard that Tampa in 2016 will be a week later: February 26 to 28. Grey Quote
Brian Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 Community calendar edited. Had the shinsa down earlier, I assume it will be the same date now. Brian Quote
