I will soon be sending a saya off for repair, I wont leave a bare blade out and have gun safe to keep it safe. wondering how you'd store it? Wrapped in newsprint or in a cloth towel? i have a old felt gun sleeve ill put it in after i decide what i want to put around it. It will have a tad heaver coat of oil than what we use in saya.

Stephen, head over to https://www.zcorrproducts.com/ & buy one of their Rifle/Shotgun bags. I've kept bare blades in them for years, with never a speck of rust or corrosion.

In fact, I kept a badly-rusted blade in one for about 18 months until my togishi had the time to repolish it. No further damage was apparent. Good products, enough so that I'm now their Hawaii dealer. :)

The Velcro closure is by far the best, Stephen, but is definitely not for weak hands. Out of curiosity, I put some air in one of the pistol bags, closed the Velcro, & put a weight on it to hold it underwater for a week. No sign of any interior dampness at all. So it's going to hold up to whatever humidity or anything else you have around your blade assuming, of course, you don't puncture it with the kissaki....

So grab a dozen & sell them at the next local show, Stephen! Should be able to double your investment. Shipping costs about the same for 1 as for 12.

I have one katanadansu where all the bare blades are stored in ZCORR bags. My other tansu has either shirasaya or koshirae.
