Ron STL Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Apologies if this is a misplaced topic, but perhaps not. Inquiring if anyone knows what this item is and if it might be Japanese military issue. It is a pressed aluminum box with a compartment on the lid that slides open and holds metal chop sticks. First, it would seem unusual to use aluminum for a military "kit" during the war. There are markings cut into the box which are numbers (260632)...shin something...anyone explain this? Have a "serial number" (?) could indiate military. Just an interesting item to learn something about. Ron STL Quote

george trotter Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 Hi Ron, 99.9% sure this is an obento box. Used for carrying lunch of cooked rice and a plum etc. Bit too fancy to be military issue IMHO. Regards, Quote
Ron STL Posted August 21, 2013 Author Report Posted August 21, 2013 That was a local opinion, too. I was hoping somebody would translate the full instription for me. Curiosity? Ron STL Quote

Ron STL Posted August 22, 2013 Author Report Posted August 22, 2013 Thanks Morita san. Wonder if the aluminum came from old airplanes, being post-war. It wouldn't surprise me. I'll pass this info on to my friend. Appreciate the information. Ron STL Quote
