cisco-san Posted April 17, 2013 Report Posted April 17, 2013 Hello, I would kindly ask for your help. I tried to translate this Mei but I am very unsure because I can´t find any information about this smith. The Nakago is also in a very bad shape (no yasurime....). Therefore my first idea was it is a chinese fake but on the other hand, but just my 2cent, the Mei seems cut not from a chinese guy?! My translation is Fujiyasu Yoshiomi or Yoshitomi 藤康 義臣 Many thanks in advance Klaus Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted April 17, 2013 Report Posted April 17, 2013 Yoshiomi seems to be a more common way to read it in general. Quote
george trotter Posted April 17, 2013 Report Posted April 17, 2013 Hi Klaus, I think you are correct...this looks "wrong". Maybe a Chinese copy with the kanji written with a dremel tool. There seems to be deep cuts but no "chisel's pillow"...IMHO. Regards, Quote
cisco-san Posted April 17, 2013 Author Report Posted April 17, 2013 Many thanks for your comments. Now I got the link http://www.ebay.com/itm/WWII-Japanese-A ... 7675.l2557 This seems that its not a chinese fake (showa stamp....). But not sure if the tang and the blade from the link above is from the same sword Now its relisted! By the way, I have no intention to buy this blade! It was/is just a translation exercise. @Admins: Please fell free to move it now into the "eBay Auctions and Online Sales/Sellers" section as I added an eBay link Quote
Brian Posted April 17, 2013 Report Posted April 17, 2013 That's not the one in the auction. Totally different nakago, and that one has yasurime. I would bet this is a fake. The kanji are wrong, the lines are off. Brian Quote
Marius Posted April 18, 2013 Report Posted April 18, 2013 By the way, I have no intention to buy this blade! It was/is just a translation exercise. Learning how to read fake, Chinese signatures? Interesting hobby, I dare say Quote
